Week 4

Beyond School - in the words of Seth Goldin remarkable "worth making a remark about". As a professional blog Clay Burell has an extensive volume of information. He appears to have a very diverse range of followers including our very own Scott Aldred.


The blog extends the ability to revisit information from past years. It was interesting to here that the blog extended as a personal journal, allowing Clay to reflect on how not only his views have changed but also the world has changed as he knew it.


My interpretation of his blog suggests that we are all different and similarly to the Engagement theory, the role of technology in learning is to facilitate further learning.Burell's use of technology increases his audience, invites interest and expand his educational template.


The Engagement Theory is about creating successful collabrative teams - as we all are in our ICT e- journal. As suggested we are also creating ambitious projects outside of a typically structured classroom . We are all activeley participating in the principles of the Engagement Theory.

As follows:

Relate - Team effort through communication, planning and social skills. We have the ability to work with others from different backgrounds

Create - we are able to create our own blogs in order to commonly participate within EDED20491

Donate - Through our Blogs and Wikki's we distribute knowledge and extend our personal knowledge.Through collaboration by means of RSS connections we are able to support the use of online communication thus facilitating the transfer of knowledge.

The blog facilitates Project orientated learning - this project has been outlined and through guidance of the online courseware we are able to create similar projects - very different however - with one common goal

Finally the Authentic Focus is for students to step outside of personal boundaries and experience the world wide web.

Very interesting how Scott has managed to not only transfer knowledge through technology but without a spoken word also translate it.
